Rothaus Pilsener

Damn fine beer from a Bavarian town called Grafenhausen in southern Black Forest in Germany.

Apparently brewery is owned by the state of Baden-Wurttemburg. Strange if true.

I had this on tap in a hotel in Munstertal in 2021 and had assumed that, like many German beers, it would not be available outside the surrounding area, but was amazed to find the bottled version in New York later that year.

Slightly cloudy with good colour and good head. Alcohol content of 5.1% is about right for my taste.

Better than the run of the mill German (or at least Bavarian) beers.

7.5/10
