Paillette Blonde

This is a Blonde beer although not too sure what style exactly, and even their website doesn’t say!

Although their logo says “Depuis 1596” this is very misleading. Apparently the brewery was established that long ago, but it went out of business sometime in the middle of the 20th century and has only been resurrected since 2004. But don’t let the facts get in the way of a good story…

I had never heard of it but it was on tap in a restaurant in Honfleur that I had dinner at in early September 2023, so I gave it a try. It’s kind of local, the brewery being based in a town called Saint-Arnoult in the Calvodos Département of Normandy.

It’s 4.7% alcohol so quite light; nice light colour and a good head. I found it refreshing and certainly very drinkable, but not outstanding. Still, if you see it on tap, give it a try.

6/10
