Mage Malt

This is a brewery located in a town called Mamers which is quite close to where I live in France. It has become quite well-known and has won quite a number of medals for its beers over the past few years.

I’ve only tried two of their beers - the Illumination, which is a Blonde, and Iceberg, which is a Blanche. Both were bottled, but I think it is possible to find this beer on tap, in this area at least.

The Iceberg is slightly lower in alcohol content at 5%. Like most Blanche beers it is cloudy in the glass; it’s a perfectly acceptable beer but just not my go, as are most Blanche beers.

The Illumination is a Blonde; slightly heavier in alcohol content at 5.5%. Pale colour, also slightly cloudy. Very distinctive taste; not sure it’s one you would drink a lot of, but quite a refreshing beer and one to look for.

I gave the Iceberg 5/10 which is probably a bit harsh but as I prefer the Illumination and I was only prepared to give it a 6/10, I marked the Iceberg down a bit.
