Alhambra Tradicional & Alhambra Reserva 1925

Two beers from the same brewery; I think many people would know and have drunk the Reserva 1925, very distinctive with the embossed bottle.

The brewery is located in Granda apparently.

I’ve only had these beers in bottles so can’t comment on how they taste in draught form.

The Tradicional is much lower in alcohol, 4.6% as opposed to 6.4% for the Reserva 1925. So, although they are both very nice beers, I would find the Reserva a bit too much if I was to drink it all night. I can verify this because I did drink quite a few of them on Christmas night in New York last year and ended up on my ear.

But, leaving over-indulgence aside, both are good beers and worth seeking out. Good colour, quite good head and very refreshing. A slight bitter after-taste but not offputting.

I rated them both 7/10.

Alhambra Tradicional at home in France, November 2022. Bought this online and for some reason it was only available in a litre bottle!

There’s a bit of a leap of faith with this photo, because although I went through many bottles of the Reserva on this trip to New York last Christmas, I later discovered that I didn’t take my usual photo of proof for some reason. I can attest that the beer in the glass is, in fact, a Reserva. But you’ll have to trust me on that one…
