Mahou Classica and Cinco Estrellas

Mahou is apparently the standard beer in Spain (I’m taking someone else’s word for this, as I haven’t been to Spain since the 1970s!) but is a major producer of beer in Spain that much is indisputable.

I had these two versions at the same time; the Classica apparently is their standard beer, both are Lagers.

Brewery also makes San Miguel (see separate post) and Alhambra (see separate post) https://www.mahou-sanmiguel.com/en-gb. It has its headquarters in Madrid but appears to have production facilities in a number of other places in Spain.

I have only ever had these once, and in can form, which I have said in another post, is not ideal.

Honey colour, clear, not great head. To be honest, I didn’t see any discernable difference between the Classica and the Cinco Estrellas, but both are very drinkable if not remarkable.

The Classica has an alcohol content of 4.8% which is on the light side, but OK with me. The Cinco Estrellas is slightly stronger at 5.5%.

As I said in another post, if the can version is this good I look forward to trying the draught version.

7.5/10
